The chardonnay grape has travelled the world so fruitfully that many wine lovers have tired of its richly textured charms (or more often its oaky-vanilla overtones). However here in Istria, cooled by constant breezes, old vines produce ripe grapes that – aged sur lie – need no oak. This fine premium wine partners pasta, white fish and white meat as unoaked chardonnay should, true to the fruit but with a lightness that is true Istria.
